Hybrid Exhibition Space
Two basic concepts, targeting the synergy of physical and digital-networked space: 1) enabling visitors to the exhibition to feel the exhibition extends into a dimension beyond the museum walls, offering both deeper information about works/artists and further space for exploration. 2) enabling visitors to the web site to feel they are visiting the exhibition not as a simple iteration or ad hoc collection of works, but an event, participating in the event. Exhibitions are events, not architectural designs. They are extended events, in a highly programmatic space. But what is the event? What happens there? Visitors view artworks and think about them. They have thoughts triggered by the artworks. Visitors talk to each other about the art and about other topics. Meanwhile, those who cannot attend the exhibition view it through the Web. More than simply view a collection of images, these visitors should experience the energy of the exhibition itself.
